11 YEARS AFTER HIS RETURN FROM EXILE

From Rio, Moïse KATUMBI says thank you!

July 15, 2014

He was in Rio de Janeiro for the 2014 World Cup and its two finals of the weekend. But he could be any other place in the world; Moïse KATUMBI could not forget that this Friday, July 11, marked 11 years of his return from exile. It is with great emotion, on the phone, that he asked us to post the message below.

"I could not show myself earlier, due to the constraints of my trip. But today I want to speak to all the people who, since my return, have continued to provide me their support. I feel a deep sense of gratitude towards those who, day after day, during these eleven years, sent me countless encouragement. They allowed me to always look forward and gave me the courage to work tirelessly.

When I look back, when I think of Mazembe success, I think that none of this would have been possible without them. And thanks to all those people who, like me, have faith in the future and their country, the club is now amongst the great of African football.

Tout Puissant Mazembe has justified its name on all fronts and I hope that his example should inspired many leaders of Congo and elsewhere. They should understand that moving forward in solidarity, fraternity and peace, we can achieve outstanding results.

Here in Brazil, I cannot help dreaming that one day, it will be an African club that will play the final and that his captain will lift the trophy high in the sky. When our continent will understand that we must unite to build, act with love and banish hatred, destructive rivalries, its representatives will have the ambition one day to be in the place of Germany or Argentina.

And to conclude on a secret, I want to tell all our fans that I take advantage of this holiday in Rio to go in popular neighborhoods, meet educators and identify players who perhaps we will allow us one day soon, to have some Brazilians in our jerseys.

Because, eleven years later, thanks to you all, my confidence is intact and I am confident that with God's help we will continue to share great moments of satisfaction and pride."
