C1 – SUNDOWNS SWEPT BY TPM (3-1)

And now heading to Mali...

April 5, 2015

Success! TP Mazembe will play the 8th finals of the C1 edition 2015. They will go to Bamako in two weeks to face Stade Malien. They have obtained their visa by defeating Mamelodi Sundowns (3-1) in twenty minutes time: from the 35th to the 57th. A success which does not suffer any discussion.

And yet for half an hour, the Ravens had a little trouble to get their engine started. Quickly harassed, the South Africans had chosen not to go out of their camp, accepting willy-nilly the domination by KIMWAKI partners. Some awkwardness, misunderstandings and bad choices complicated the task of the Ravens, despite constant domination that reduced KIMWAKI to jobless. We had no patience in the stands when the first goal finally came in by KALABA of the head (38th). Finally!

The power grab of SAMAGOAL

We would even be fine with that small success during the break aiming at qualifying in the second period when SAMATTA doubled the lead to immerse "Brazilians" of the President MOTSEPE in a nightmare that they had not expected.

At the break, the TPM was qualified but a goal by the opponent could challenge everything. Sundowns had understood it and flashed more offensive intentions to recovery. But ASSALE had not put his name on the score sheet yet. He did it in the 57th minute, after a corner kick that he had gotten himself into a double duel with the goalkeeper.

This time, the Ravens held the key that opens the door for the 8th finals. Without some concentration and an excess of selfishness KALABA forgetting two partners best placed in front of goal, the score could climb to 4 or even 5-0.

Shame, faithful to his bad habits, TPM conceded a goal in the 86th forcing themselves to an end in a chaotic game that they could easily (or should) have avoided.

But the key was done and Mazembe assured most of his supporters. Especially by his offensive potential. And the brilliance of FRIMPONG, very verve, ASSALE and KALABA, or the impressive task performed by a colossal DIARRA and a very serious ADJEI.

"Just be realistic" RC ASSALE announced before the game in our "Live With...” Mission accomplished.
