Constant OMARI: « Only the TPM stadium meets the standards… »

April 25, 2015

Recently elected as member of the executive committee of FIFA, Constant OMARI is back in the Congolese capital. During a press conference, the President of FECOFA expressed his outrage about the violence in stadiums in the country. The boss of the Congolese football has indicated not to be surprised if the next Leopards match is held at the Temple of Badiangwenas.

Immediately, Constant OMARI explained how our infrastructure is, in itself, drivers and base of the predominance of everything that we experience like violence. The reason given: "Our infrastructure is not secure". In Tata Raphaël Stadium for example, anyone can start from anywhere, go down on the pitch, and throw a bag whose contents are known only by himself. Stadiums in the country became unwell outlets that dare not speak its name. Constant OMARI indicates that the owners of these infrastructures are co-responsible for these abuses.

Constant OMARI wishes that the media should accompany him in the fight against these ailments. As FIFA and CAF security officer, the President of FECOFA explains: "When I make a check-list of a Congolese stadium that needs to shelter international competition, the rating is -2 or - 3. It is not worthy. It is time to act where the problem arises. How long the world soccer officials are they going to continue to tolerating the DRC?” he asked himself.

It is time to stop violence in our stadiums

The number one of the Congolese football has condemned the frenzy of politicians to take refuge in football. He could understand that it was necessarily to help the development of our infrastructure but more often for electoral purposes:"I condemn any tendency to politicize teams this is the trend that is being spread in matches where there are incidents. The cause of evil is not to be found in football. As long as I am at the head of football, I will not accept that it looks like January 4, 1959 as the starting point of the riots in the country. Everyone observes and says nothing, and when it will flare they will be looking for officials of the various entities. No one will agree to take responsibility. So there is a problem... The stadium in the capital is in putrefying state. Each match is playing at Raphaël stadium, there are fines that the FECOFA pays for non-compliance with standards.”

Playoffs AFCON and World Cup: Where will play the Leopards?

A question was asked by journalists to Constant OMARI: "Where do we play the qualifiers for the AFCON scheduled for June and those of the World Cup in August?”

"Modern man", as people from Kinshasa like to affectionately call him, indicated to fell very small when discussing with colleagues internationally. "They are surprised that our country has nothing. Congolese are great people, they deserve respect... When FECOFA requests to play at TPM Stadium in Lubumbashi, everyone screams and forgets that it is the only private stadium which meets the standards to date...”

While commending the 4 Congolese clubs that are competing for the 8th finals of the CAF club, Constant OMARI wants soon working on the basis of the duration. He did not forget to talk about the organization of the final of the Cup of Congo. For lack of infrastructure in the other provinces, only the cities of Kinshasa and Lubumbashi will compete.

Constant OMARI is reassuring for the development of Congolese football. He knows better than anyone that there is work...
