Sundowns saturday, pressure is rising

March 1, 2021

This Monday, the TPM is back in the Champions League. On the menu for the day is the match against the prolific Mamelodi Sundowns team on Saturday 6 March at Kamalondo.

The South African team of Mamelodi Sundowns was in Tanzania on Sunday to face CR Belouizdad. This match which was to be played last Tuesday in Algiers, was postponed and relocated following the request made by the Algerian team because of the risks of being contaminated with the South African variant of coronavirus, CAF reports.

Mamelodi Sundowns made only one bite out of his opponent during a controlled opposition from the 4th minute. A logical penalty converted by Themba ZWANE following voluntary hand ball, on the goal line of Chouaib KEDDAD who was awarded red for having wanted to cancel the opening of the score.

Outnumbered, CRB resisted and even offered the equalizer before half-time (1-1). Upon returning from the locker room, the Algerians will sink by conceding 4 goals! Peter SHALULILE, headed after a left corner in the 48th, Themba ZWANE scored twice by concluding a superb collective action in the 55th. Lebohang MABOE in the 75th and ROMEO at the very end of the game showered the Algerians: 5-1 at the finish.

Mamelodi Sundowns, next opponent of TPM, dominates the group with 6 points for 7 goals to 1. Ravens are cautious and if they want to survive in this group phase, it will require a victory, at least, in the double confrontation on the 6th in Lubumbashi and the 16th of March in Pretoria.

To prepare for these decisive fixtures, Pamphile MIHAYO's men resumed training on Monday at 9:00 AM at Kamalondo.
