NIGER: Moussa MAAZOU the revenger

January 24, 2013

After a european adventure that went wrong and the  AFCON Orange 2012  half fig half grape, it’s with a spirit of revenge that MAAZOU Moussa, the Nigerian star, will play the AFCON Orange 2013 in South Africa.

Super star in Niger, Moussa Ouwo MAAZOU had many setbacks in recent years in his career. His misadventures begin in 2009 when he decided to leave Lokeren (Belgium) to sign with CSKA Moscow a five to seven year contract including five million euro.

According to him, the league UEFA Champions League was the motivator of his choice. So he’s gonna play his first game under the new colours on   Sunday, April 12 against MFK Lokomotiv. Thrown into the bath of the game in the 70th minute, he highlights his instinct for goal achievement and scores three minutes prior the final whistle.
Not much enough to convince Coach Juande Ramos. Cause on September 15 of the same year, VS  VFL Wolfsburg in  Champions League, the  Nigerian star is put  aside in favor of Tomas NECID. The native of Niamey refuses to swallow the snake and threatens to leave posthaste. "I came to play the Champions League not to watch it from the bench. The Coach humiliated me.  That’s what I do not accept “he plagued in the media. Juande RAMOS remains unmoved and unyielding. Moussa MAAZOU, for the second time, watches the match of the Champions League against Besiktas from the bench.

The Blazing ball, the worst reward

In the winter mercato, then he was logically loaned for six months with an option to be purchased at 4.5 million to AS Monaco. The Nigerian found colors on the rock and led Monaco to the final of the Coupe de France (French Cup) with crucial goals against Marseille, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Sochaux and Racing Club de Lens. He even realizes eight goals in twenty matches as leading player. Unfortunately for cash-flow problems especially Mena striker is released by the ASM at the end of the season.

Girondins from Bordeaux hasten then to attach the nugget from Niger on August 25, 2010. Urge to forget Marouane CHAMAKH, former Muscovite scored his only goal the 14th day of the French League 1. The failure is obvious! His offensive remarks against his employers and his supporters in an interview with the newspaper 20 minutes precipitated his departure on 25 January 2011. To top it all, he won the trophy of the blazing ball (worst player of the year) 2011.

The beginning of a promising career

Yet Moussa MAAZOU had started his career on a bang. For his first steps in the Nigerian Championship with ASFAN he scored 17 goals in respect of the 2005-2006 seasons. The following season, he did it again with 20 goals in 34 matches. Such a goals hunter can only be tracked by lovers of rare birds. Thus, in January 2008, the star of ASFAN falls into the hands of the Belgian club KSC Lokeren. MAAZOU remains equal to himself and shook the net 14 times in 17 games and fails to award the trophy for best scorer of the Jupiler Pro League. He still offers the title of the second top scorer behind the Congolese Dieumerci MBOKANI scorer of 15 goals.

Find his goalscoring crazy sensation

In the National team, MAAZOU is incisive as flamboyant on the front of the attack. He significantly brings down Egypt, the seven-time champion in Africa (1-0) in the playoff match for the AFCON 2012, in October 10, 2010 in Niamey. During the fifth day of the qualifiers, the former Monaco crucified South Africa in scoring the only goal of the game (1-0) and allowed Niger to take control of the group before his victims, Egypt and Sierra Leone.

It is with this feeling of a crazy scorer that the current member of Etoile Sportive du Sahel intends to play again the Orange AFCON 2013. Regularly set on the front attacking line of the starred club in the Tunisian League 1, the Nigerian star is sufficiently equipped to make powder speak. His association with ISSOUFOU Alhassane Dante, Wydad of Casablanca, led by Gernot ROHR, could thwart the defenses in Group B in Port Elizabeth.
