11 QUESTIONS TO THE NEW COACH (2)

Patrice CARTERON "Bring Mazembe at the top"

May 27, 2013

Second part of the interview with coach Patrice Carteron.  He showed great determination, setting himself high objectives; and expressed his belief that it will cooperate well with   the Technical Director Lamine NDIAYE to Mazembe to success. After a short week in the capital of Katanga he is a man in a hurry to take the reins of TPM.

Have you already made arrangements for the composition of your technical staff? Will the staff undergo some changes at your request?

At first as we agreed with the Chairman, I will make a state location of the staff in place. My goal is not to arrive and want to revolutionize everything. However, I have another speech to the staff to adapt and its members to show that they are able to give me something ...

What are the objectives that have been set by the club management?

The president did not entrust me any objective at all. I have  just put my bags here, and when there are means as it is the case with TPM it’s me I who have entrusted the President my motivation to bring the Confederation Cup. After 33 years, it is a very big goal. I know this Cup for having supervised last year Malian Stadium and Djoliba they reached the final. This is a very difficult and tough competition, we will have not just the talent we have in the team, but show a mental strength because I know that travel in Africa is always difficult ... Then we should get the title of champion of the DRC. These are the two goals that are dear to heart.

Have you ever met Lamine NDIAYE the Technical Director or are you going to? How do you see the cohabitation with the Franco-Senegalese technician?

- Of course, it's done. With Lamine NDIAYE we have discussed and much discussed during the game against Muungano about different players. We've already had a first meeting both, and the purpose is that I can rely on Lamine NDIAYE and he can provide me with his view on the team, his experience as well because he is here for several years. The purpose is to form a close-knit team and the TPM continues to have good results.

- There is no problem; everything is a matter of understanding and discussing between us. I'm sure it'll be fine.

How do you rate the Congolese football?

What interests me today is only the TPM. I came from Mali and I know quite well that the land will be difficult when traveling; I think it is a good way to build a mental in the struggle that will be in the Confederation Cup. In Lubumbashi, we will be supported by our fans while playing on a pitch which is necessarily very good, it is synthetic we will fight for a good game quality but we will also have to win outside over the mind than by the game, given the quality of some pitches.

What are your plans for the coming months compared the matches of Mali and those of Mazembe? When will you be on the Ravens bench for the first time?

- The President in harmony had understood my desire - if Mali wished - to keep the selection on the two matches in June due to their proximity. Then return to Lubumbashi to take care of the team. For sure the very good  first leg  against Mozambicans allows me to think that the team will have a ticket to the quarterfinals, so there is less urgency if the first leg had been badly negotiated.

- As soon as possible, I'm already talking with Malian leaders. Even though they knew I was going to resign at the end of two matches in June, because of the media hype that has been surrounding the signing of the contract with Mazembe, they may not wish that I 'assumes the two games, it's a possibility. If this were the case, I would get quickly back to work, because I cannot wait to be on the bench of TPM.

Do you have anything to add to conclude this interview?

I really want to thank the leaders, supporters and the Chairman who welcomed me in the most beautiful way. It gives me even more motivation and desire to bring TPM back to the top.
