Constant OMARI wants to lead the ship to the top of the wave

The FECOFA President hard-hit but holding the bar

IN A LETTER OF RECORDS AND SEASONS GREETINGS

Constant OMARI wants to lead the ship to the top of the wave

December 27, 2016

In a warm letter addressed to the members of his Executive Committee, to the Presidents of the National and Provincial Leagues, to the Presidents of the Congolese Clubs, to the members of the Congolese Football Family and to the staff of the FECOFA, the boss of the Federation drew up A credit report of Congolese football for the year that is coming to an end. Without hesitation, in his letter serving as advocate for the promotion of our football in 2017, the boss of FECOFA has requested the support of all and expressed all his faith in the future.

Here is the full letter from the President of FECOFA:

Last year on the same date, I sent you, from Atlanta, my end-of-year message that resumed my wishes of Merry Christmas and my wishes of New Year 2016. In this message, I implored The Good Lord so that the year 2016 will be happy for all of us and for our Football. On the threshold of the year 2017, which is to be announced in a few days, it is my duty, once again, to wish you a joyful celebration of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ and to say to you my best wishes of Success and prosperity.

On the football front in this year which is coming to an end we have made significant progress that allows us today to feed many hopes of the future of our football.

Our Elite Championship organized by the Linafoot took on a superior dimension to allow us to win for the second time the fourth edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda in the beautiful way.

The same championship allowed us to place two of our flagship teams (TP Mazembe and Vita Club) in the eighth final of the CAF Champion’s League. If not its elimination on green carpet, Vita Club was well gone to play the final of this competition and why not win it.

As for TP Mazembe, eliminated in the eighth final and sent to the CAF Confederation Cup, they won the trophy.

At the level of the Men's National Team A, the latter qualified without burrs in the final phase of the African Cup of Nations which will take place in Gabon from January 2017.

As for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, our National Team A is at the top of the group with Tunisia. We have made the best start of the past 42 years.

We launched the « En Route pour la Coupe du Monde Russie 2018 » (In road to 2018 World Cup Russia) initiative. This allowed us to smooth out any differences within the Congolese Football Family which ultimately came out victorious. All Congolese citizens are behind the National Team A.

These results were highlighted by the work and involvement of all of us. In my capacity as President of this Federation, I extend to you all congratulations and thanks.

If everything was pink as far as football is concerned, on a personal and family level, I am going through the most catastrophic year that a human being can know. Serial death of the members of my family who were close to me. My practicing Catholic faith allows me to rely on the sovereign will of our God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord, and the Holy Spirit united in the bosom of the Holy Trinity.

I would like to convey to you on behalf of my family and my own many thanks. Thanks to you, I am gradually raising my head. The past moments were too hard. You have been at my side with all kinds of support. I appreciate that.

Is that the reason to give up? No, it is rather a reason to fight more to keep the rudder of our football to good harbor. To this end, I need, once again, the assistance of all of you. The site is vast and needs general mobilization.

The year 2017 will begin with the final round of the 2017 AFCON Gabon and will end with the clarification of a qualification at the 2018 World Cup Russia. I am convinced that our National Team A has the arguments to take up these two bets, namely the bet to play the final of the AFCON and why not win it on the one hand and on the other hand, the bet of qualification in the finals of the 2018 World Cup.

To this end, I ask you to embark with me aboard this boat because the adventure will be beautiful.

Happy New Year 2017!

OMARI SELEMANI Constant

FECOFA Chairman
